Founding customer terms

Service terms

Last updated July 25, 2026.

These terms are between you and Javier Sanz. By purchasing or using Handed To Us, you agree to them. Questions and legal notices can be sent to care@handedtous.com.

Who may use the service

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a contract. A purchaser may invite family members, but the purchaser and vault owner remain responsible for the collection and the access they grant.

The founding package

The founding package is a one-time $349 purchase. It includes one private family cookbook, AI-assisted transcription, family invitations, portable exports, and unlimited recipes from the family's own collection. There is no subscription or recurring hosting bill.

Unlimited family recipes and fair use

“Unlimited” means Handed To Us does not meter ordinary family use by a recipe or source-photo quota. The package is for one family's personal collection, not commercial archives, bulk third-party processing, automated scraping, or resale. File-size, pages-per-recipe, rate, security, and reasonable anti-abuse safeguards still apply.

Your materials and permission

You must own the uploaded images and stories or have permission to preserve and share them with your invited family. You keep ownership of your materials and grant Handed To Us a limited license to store, process, transcribe, format, and display them solely to deliver the service.

Do not upload a commercial cookbook, subscription publication, or another person's photos or writing unless you have permission. Ingredient lists and practical directions may not be protected in the same way as creative writing or photography, but you are responsible for the material you choose to preserve.

Private family access

Vault owners choose invited members and roles. Owners are responsible for invitations they create. Members must protect account access and must not copy or distribute family materials contrary to the family's permission.

Transcription limits

Handwriting and damaged cards can be ambiguous. Handed To Us uses AI to transcribe recipes and does not routinely provide human review. The service gives an owner or editor a lightweight opportunity to compare the typed recipe with the original and correct it. Customers remain responsible for checking recipes before cooking or sharing them. We cannot guarantee complete accuracy or suitability for dietary, allergen, food-safety, medical, or nutritional needs.

Payments, cancellation, and refunds

Payment is collected through Stripe. There is no recurring charge. Every purchase includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee beginning when payment succeeds. To request a refund, email care@handedtous.com from the purchaser email during the guarantee period and include enough information to identify the order. Approved refunds return to the original payment method. The guarantee does not cover fraud, repeated abuse, resale, or unlawful use.

Gifts

A purchaser may buy a cookbook for another adult and choose immediate or scheduled email delivery. The recipient must claim the cookbook using the designated email. Purchasers are responsible for entering the correct recipient address and for having permission to send the gift message. For a scheduled gift, the 30-day guarantee extends through 30 calendar days after the scheduled delivery date.

Hosting, exports, and continuity

The one-time purchase includes hosted access while Handed To Usoperates the family-cookbook service; it is not a promise that any company or online service will operate forever. The permanent family asset is the material the family owns and can take with it. Owners can export PDF, JSON, and CSV copies at any time. If Handed To Us plans to end the hosted service, we will make reasonable efforts to give at least 180 days' notice and provide a complete export opportunity before access ends. Emergency legal, security, or infrastructure events may make that notice impracticable.

Deletion and termination

Owners can permanently delete a vault. We may suspend access for abuse, unlawful uploads, security threats, or non-payment. Sections concerning ownership, disclaimers, payment records, and liability survive termination where applicable.

Copyright reports

If you believe material stored through the service infringes your copyright, email care@handedtous.com with your contact details, the work you believe is infringed, the material at issue, its location, and a statement that your report is accurate and made in good faith. We may remove or restrict access to reported material and may terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect transcription, or that a recipe is safe or suitable for a particular person. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability arising from the service will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected cookbook. This limit does not apply where the law does not allow it.

Changes and business continuity

We may update these terms for security, legal, or service changes. Material changes will be posted here and, when reasonably practical, sent to account owners. The sole proprietor may transfer the service and these agreements to a successor business, including a future limited liability company, provided that customer ownership and export rights continue.
